The purpose of iChoose is to educate and empower teens to prevent unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
The facts about teens and sexual health
- Texas has one of the highest teen birth rates in the United States (Center for Disease Control, 2009).
- Over 90% of Texas high schools do not provide information about contraception. Teens do not learned about how to prevent pregnancies or sexually transmitted infections (Texas Freedom Network, 2009).
- Sexually transmitted infection (STIs) rates are on the rise. STIs, like Chlamydia (which is at a record high), can have signficant short and long term health effects if not properly treated (Center for Disease Control, 2009).
So what can you do?
